Shopify Installation Guide

 

Overview

Welcome to Protectly! This guide will walk you through the installation and configuration process for integrating Protectly with your e-commerce store. Protectly enhances the online shopping experience by offering package protection, giving your customers confidence in their orders while offloading costs and providing your business with additional revenue opportunities.

Prerequisites

Before installing Protectly, ensure you have:

  • An active Shopify store
  • Admin access to your Shopify store
  • Access to your Shopify store’s email

Step 1: Install the Protectly App

  1. Log in to your Shopify Admin Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Shopify App Store.
  3. Search for “Protectly”.
  4. Click on the Protectly app from the search results.
  5. Click “Add app”.
  6. Review the requested permissions.
  7. Click Install to authorize Protectly to access your store.

Step 2: Connect or Create Your Protectly Account

Existing merchants: Navigate to the Protectly app within your Shopify portal

New merchants:

  1. An email will be sent to you with a link to complete a short onboarding process. If you did not receive the email after installing Protectly, please check your spam inbox or email support@getprotectly.com
  2. Complete our short onboarding experience with your business details
  3. Confirm store information
  4. Connect your business bank account through Plaid
  5. The last step of the onboarding process will redirect you to these docs to customize the shipping protection widget on your Shopify store

Step 3: Add Protectly to Your Checkout & Cart Pages

Adding Protectly to Your Checkout Page (Shopify Plus ONLY)

  1. In your Shopify portal under sales channels select online store
  2. Under online store select themes
  3. In the center of the screen under the themes section select the black customize button
  4. Select the dropdown that says home page in the top center of the customization window
  5. Select checkout and customer accounts in the dropdown menu
  6. Recommended placement: On the lefthand navigation bar under the order summary section select add app block and select Protectly
  7. Move Protectly between the discounts and checkout sections
  8. You can drag and drop the app to other sections of the checkout page
  9. Other recommended locations are under the shipping method and payment sections

Adding Protectly to Your Cart Page (Shopify Basic – Plus)

  1. In your Shopify portal under sales channels select online store
  2. Under online store select themes
  3. In the center of the screen under the themes section select the black customize button
  4. Select the dropdown that says home page in the top center of the customization window
  5. From the dropdown menu select cart
  6. Hover over the subtotal section and click the top plus indicator

  7. Select apps and choose Protectly

Step 4: Test Your Integration

  1. Visit your Shopify storefront.
  2. Add a product to your cart.
  3. Proceed to checkout and verify Protectly’s presence.
  4. Complete a test purchase to confirm functionality.

Step 5: Get The Full Value of Protectly

Analytics Dashboard

Metrics will begin appearing once shoppers start purchasing shipping protection. You can view a limited set of metrics by clicking on the Protectly app within your Shopify portal or access an extended set of metrics by visiting app.grotectly.com.

Shipping Score

  • Your unique shipping score is based on the ratio of orders to claims and other performance benchmarks. This score influences the pricing your customers pay for package protection.
